An innovative and growing company is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new client acquisition during an exciting time in the company's evolution.  This company uses AI in specific scientific applications to dramatically increase product yields.  This role focuses on engaging with target customers and key stakeholders to demonstrate how the company’s products can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase profitability.

The BDM will act as a key link between technical offerings and customer needs, managing the full sales cycle from initial engagement through to closing deals.

Key Responsibilities for the Business Development Manager
  • Identify and engage new customers through outreach, referrals, events, and inbound leads
  • Understand customer challenges and tailor solutions to their needs
  • Present and demonstrate the value of the company’s products
  • Manage the full sales cycle, lead generation, qualification, proposals, negotiation, and closing
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline and CRM records
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and delivery
  • Stay up to date with market trends, competitors, and industry developments
  • Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities
Key Skills & Experience for the Business Development Manager
  • Proven experience in B2B sales
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or technical products clearly
  • Self-motivated and able to manage a full sales pipeline independently
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a range of stakeholders
  • Organised and detail-oriented with good CRM/system usage
  • Comfortable collaborating with technical and product teams
Desirable Experience for the Business Development Manager
  • Experience selling technology, software, or data-driven solutions
  • Experience working with a range of commercial clients
  • Understanding of long sales cycles and consultative selling
  • Interest in how technology can drive efficiency and business performance
This BDM role is with a well funded growing organization in a niche scientific sector.  Ideally I am looking for someone who can grasp technical scientific concepts and work with individuals at all levels in the scientific and research fields.

The role is hybrid with 3 days per week in office in Central Manchester.  There is minimal travel with this role.
